Upto this stage and nothing happens for the next 45 -60 mins. It was under warranty and SSC took 45 mins to fix it with a replacement of the LCD screen & camera (i talked them into this).Īttached the S2 and there is a yellow box " 0:" appears. To think back, my earlier attempt to upgrade to ICS resulted in a brick also. In my case, with the "firmware update error", my longest attempt is over 60 mins and with no response except for a very very warm battery & handset. What is the expected time to completion ? My several attempts has past 35 mins and with no response from Odin. Like our Windows files transfer, with the animation icon ?Ģ. Is there an icon that will indicate that the update is in progress. Only managed to get to "Download mode" by removing the SIM card & SD card.ġ. And I'm too noob to know what I'm doing from here. So, ODIN seems able to connect, but unable to fix anything. I've also tried killing off all Kies processes and re-flashing the bootloader from ODIN, but I get this result: I've tried every reset method possible - three-finger reset, battery-out USB boot, removing SD and SIM cards, etc, etc. The Kies emergency recovery mode will not detect the phone, and won't even try recovering firmware until it gets a silly recovery code, which I've never seen before. But Kies still won't talk to the phone at all it just detects it and then reports a connection error. I actually went to the hassle of removing Windows 8 from my computer and reverting back to Windows 7, just to make Kies work properly. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." There's no option to continue or circumvent this error screen, and therefore no way to get back into download mode. Sure enough, the phone instantly boots to screen that says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. I waited several minutes until I was sure there was no hope of it completing, and then I did the next stupid thing: pulled the plug and tried to reboot the phone. Sure enough, ODIN froze halfway through flashing to a new bootloader. First, I tried using ODIN and Kies on a PC running a pre-beta version of Windows 8, which I discovered (too late) is incompatible. Ordinarily this wouldn't have been a problem, but I did two very stupid things. I'll upload it shortly, just extract it into a folder on your desktop or somewhere where it is easy to get to. I hated the stock ROM almost immediately, so I decided to root it so I could install MIUI, just like I had on my previous phone (Captivate). Is it the correct firmware I'm gonna go ahead and prepare you a file that will have adb, fastboot, and a cmd window. I need help because I made a stupid mistake that is costing me sleep. Then you can launch Odin and connect the USB cable and proceed flashing the firmware.Hi guys. Then press the Volume up button to continue which should take you into download mode where you'll see a green Android. Next simultaneously press and hold Volume Down/Home then the power button until you see it say "Warning!!" at the top and a tiny yellow triangle at the bottom. After flashing it be sure to follow the last instruction to wipe cache partition.Īlso forgot: you should be able to get the phone back into download mode first unplug it from the USB cable and ensure it's powered off. Be sure to unzip it using 7zip then flash it via Odin. The only thing that did was to use the Stock Rooted ROM firmware in this thread: Įdit: it's the Root66_VZW_stock_system.7z file. I tried all the troubleshooting steps, but nothing worked. Using any of the firmware listed in that thread or linked at XDA, Odin would always fail at "NAND Write Start" leaving the phone stuck with error "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue". I ran into a similar problem last night trying to return my phone to the stock VRALJB software using the instructions in the "Return to 100% Stock" thread (was on the newer software from the recent OTA update). I've tried different Odins, tried using kies with another laptop but kies wouldn't recognize my phone I would seriously appreciate some help fixing my phone. I took the battery out, pressed both volume buttons as i put the battery back in but nothing still happens, it won't turn on unless I plug the usb cable in the pc where I get the same error screen. This has caused the firmware upgrade encountered an issue error on my phone and my phone won't turn off unless i take out the battery. I used Odin along with the Stock firmware (CI605_I605VRLJB_I605VRALJB_CL414933_HWID04_HW_Rev0406_low_ship_5) and sch-i605-16gb.pit, unchecked everything other than auto-reboot and F. I recently got my verizon note 2 and tried to root it, thereby bricking it.
